Hello all,

I want to take a few moments to show my appreciation and gratitude for the dedicated Public Safety Telecommunicators who serve our communities across North Dakota. Today marks the start of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and this week is dedicated to you. This week we honor each of you who selflessly dedicate your lives to being the First, First Responders.

With that, I also want to be one of the first to announce that ND Senate Bill 2296 has passed through the North Dakota Legislature and was signed by Governor Kelly Armstrong on April 7, 2025. It was an amendment to now recognize Public Safety Telecommunicators as First Responders in North Dakota. This is an amazing win and a step forward in getting the recognition and appreciation that you deserve. This couldn’t have come at a more perfect time than now for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week!

So, I say congratulations and thank you! Thank you for your work, commitment and sacrifice that does not go unnoticed. You deserve this week! Have an amazing National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week!
